Through serving at The Gathering in Muncie, Indiana and Madison Park Church of God in Anderson, Kelsi quickly realized that not only were music ministry and church ministry not necessarily synonymous, but also that her calling to ministry was outside the traditional church setting. In mid-2009, she followed God's promptings to relocate to Nashville, Tennessee to embark on a new music-ministry-related adventure. She currently works at both Trevecca Nazarene University and Belmont University as an accompanist and vocal coach, and plays piano for countless other individuals and organizations throughout middle Tennessee.
Kelsi has had the privilege of collaborating with countless talented vocalists over the past several years. Her students have gone on to become award-winning classical, theatrical, and commercial performers. Having studied voice at the collegiate level herself, Kelsi is well versed in breathing techniques, vocal placement, and diction. Her experience affords her a practical understanding of healthy technique in various genres.
Kelsi currently vocal coaches over 30 students at Belmont University and Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Having participated in every role of collaborative solo and ensemble singing, Kelsi understands the vital role of an accompanist, as well as how to most effectively collaborate with soloists, choral singers, and choral directors. Kelsi’s superior sight-reading skills and intuition, coupled with an innate ability to improvise and over fifteen years of experience, provide her frequent opportunities to accompany for a wide array of vocal and instrumental musicians.
Kelsi maintains a busy schedule accompanying in various academic, sacred, and professional settings.
One of the greatest privileges Kelsi has as a pianist is having the honor of being a part of landmark occasions in the lives of others. Kelsi enjoys creating event-specific ambiance for weddings, funerals, parties, and other special occasions.
Kelsi has worked extensively in orchestral settings as both a featured soloist and an ensemble performer. Among her favorite orchestral pieces in which she has been featured are Felix Mendelssohn’s GM Concerto Opus 25, and Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin.
Kelsi has had the pleasure of playing keyboard in many artists’ bands. Having perfect pitch makes her a very fast and accurate aural learner, and her willingness to let others take the spotlight enables her to be a natural addition to any ensemble.
Kelsi uses a Roland RD-700 SX.
